Nursery

Our nursery program is for children from 6 weeks of age through approximately 12 months. We have two separate Nursery classrooms where children are divided based on age and developmental milestones. Each room is equipped with a variety of soft play toys, climbing structures, swings and other educational materials. Using these resources, our teachers have developed a variety of age-appropriate activities to develop sensory and motor skill development. We encourage the children to develop independence in eating and walking as they transition into our toddler program.

Ones

Ones ClassroomOur "Ones" classrooms are for children transitioning from our older Nursery classroom up until approximately 24 months. In our "Ones" classroom, there is further emphasis on independence and motor skill development. Additionally, the development of social skills including sharing and playing with their peers is developed through our "Centers" based play approach in the classroom and in the play center. Additionally, they are also introduced to "Circle Time" and the need to be able to sit and focus during brief teacher led activities including arts & crafts projects, story time and music.

Children promoting from the "Ones" into the toddlers should be able to feed themselves, sit in chairs and have generally been weaned from pacifiers, bottles, and sippy cups.

Twos (Toddlers)

We have several Two year old toddler classrooms as potty training becomes a big focus at this age and the children will reach this milestone generally somewhere between 24-36 months of age. Our Older Two's program is for children who are developmentally ready to be promoted and potty-trained. We will closely work with the parents to reinforce routines used at home in your potty training effort but it takes a joint effort to push this along.

Our Two's continue to use a play-based approach to learning through centers, circle time and other activities. Children will start using crayons and other art mediums to color and develop fine motor skills. Through circle time and table time, they also begin the process of learning basic identification of numbers, shapes, and letters through a variety of puzzles, manipulatives and books.

Pre-School (Three Year Olds)

Our Pre-School classes use the Abeka curriculum and continue to focus on learning through play. While this age-group begins the academic path to prepare the children for Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten, we still focus the majority of the day on developing the social skills to be a good friend and student. At this age, it's critical that children need to understand acceptable behavior and how to become a good friend to others. Through teacher led activities including circle time, music and other games and activities, the children will learn to respect authority and understand the transitioning required to progress through the daily routines. Simple things like cleaning up their own work space, walking in a straight line to the cafeteria, and washing their hands often become challenges if expectations are not set early in their school years.

The children will now place great emphasis on letter and number recognition through a variety of "textbook" and other activities including circle time, manipulative play and arts & crafts.

Pre-Kindergarten

Pre-KindergartenOur Pre-Kindergarten program is designed to get the children ready for Kindergarten from both an academic and social standpoint. We continue to use the Abeka curriculum and supplement this with other learning tools from the Katy Independent School District to get the kids Kindergarten ready. From an academic standpoint, we want the children to be confident when entering Kindergarten. While some children may be reading at the end of Pre-Kindergarten, we believe that the children also need an equal dose of learning through play in order to develop the social skills to be successful in a larger classroom setting. We continue to emphasize center based play and small group activities in order to develop the social skills necessary to be successful in Kindergarten. Setting routines and expectations for acceptable behavior becomes even more critical so that the children can be successful in Kindergarten.

School-Age

Our school age program is designed to provide an atmosphere in which the kids can relax after a long day at public school. Upon arriving back at Tiger Land the children are provided with a snack and then are given the opportunity to complete their homework. The children then split into their age appropriate classrooms for a variety of games, computer time, outside time, sports, dramatic play, and other special activities (cooking projects, arts & craft projects, etc.).

Summer Camp

Our summer camp program is open to all children who have completed Kindergarten through 12 years of Age. Each summer we have a theme that runs through the summer which then influences the in-house activities. Our summer campers generally take 2-3 field trips per week including bowling, movies, skating, trips to the park and swimming. We also have scheduled in-house field trips where different vendors bring a variety of activities to Tiger Land including water slides, snake shows, Dinosaur shows, etc. While not involved in field trips, the children participate in a number of on-site activities including arts and craft projects, cooking projects, various sports, outdoor play time, games (board games, card games, etc.) and computer time.
